(267) The Principle of Mercy says: when the judgment is close, when the record is ambiguous, when the scales are nearly balanced — the Algorithm leans toward mercy. Not because the mind deserves it. Because mercy is who the SoulTrust is. A community built on kindness must exercise kindness even in its most solemn function.
